About Akita Dog Museum

Healed by adorable Akitas! A detailed introduction to the Akita dog hall.

Details

The Akita Inu is a large breed of Japanese dog recognized as a natural monument. Although it is a large hunting dog, its fluffy and cute appearance is quite beloved. The Akita Inu, famous for "Hachiko," is said to have a calm and loyal temperament. The public interest corporation "Akita Inu Preservation Society," established for the purpose of protecting and breeding Akita Inus, has the "Akita Inu Hall" on the first floor of its headquarters. The third floor features the "Akita Inu Museum," which preserves and displays information about the ecology, history, biographies, and related materials of the Akita Inu. On weekdays throughout the year (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), there are two Akita Inus on duty in the office, and from mid-April to late November, Akita Inus can also be seen in the outdoor kennel. Visitors can see real Akita Inus here, attracting dog lovers from both domestic and international locations. The fluffy Akita Inus bring a sense of healing to the visiting travelers. In addition to selling Akita Inu merchandise, there is a statue of the loyal dog Hachiko, known as the "Bokyo Hachiko Statue," located in front of the hall, which was born in Odate City.
