🗺️ Amami Oshima奄美大島

Amami Oshima is the largest remote island in Kagoshima. The island is covered with dense forests of subtropical plants and boasts vast emerald green coral reef coastlines. Activities such as whale watching and diving are quite popular here. This natural habitat, home to rare animals, was registered as a "World Natural Heritage" site in 2021. The expansive Ohama Seaside Park features cobalt blue seas and white sandy beaches, making it the best spot to watch the sunset and a well-known nesting ground for sea turtles. The Amami Marine Exhibition Hall within the park showcases marine life and traditional fishing methods. The Kuroshio no Mori Mangrove Park in Sumiyoshi Town is a park adjacent to a spectacular mangrove forest. Visitors can paddle through the densely growing mangroves in a canoe. Generally, the transportation to Amami Oshima is by airplane, with direct flights available from Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. There are numerous bus services from the airport to the city. Additionally, there are cruise ships that travel from the Amami Islands to Kagoshima New Port and Naha Airport in Okinawa, allowing for a leisurely boat trip.
