📖 Details

The Aso Panorama Line is a mountain road located in the center of the Aso caldera, extending approximately 37 kilometers in the north, west, and south directions towards the Aso Five Peaks. The roads from the three directions converge midway, leading to the Aso Mountain Plaza near the Nakadake crater. It is a spectacular road that encapsulates the charm of Aso, allowing travelers to race through the vast grasslands while gazing at the outer rim mountains. The northern route, known as the Bōnaka Line (Prefectural Road No. 111), begins at JR "Aso" Station. The winding road stretches endlessly after crossing the Kusasenri plains. The Akamizu Line (Prefectural Road No. 298), which extends from the west, starts from the direction of "Aso Farm Land," where you can see the "Spouting Stone Hill (Komezuka)" protruding from the grasslands. The "Yoshida" Line (Prefectural Road No. 111), extending from the south, heads north from "Minami Aso Village," offering views of the diverse mountain scenery. The Aso Panorama Line has become the main route for Aso tourism.
