🗺️ Beautiful Forest美人林
About Beautiful Forest
A beautiful and enchanting beech forest on the hills.
Details
On a sprawling 3-hectare hill, there are beech trees approximately 100 years old, creating a lush and enchanting landscape, earning it the beautiful nickname "Bijin no Mori" (美人林). It is said that in the late Taisho era, the local trees were completely cut down for charcoal production, turning the area into a bare mountain. However, in the following spring, the beech trees sprouted and grew together, forming the scenery we see today. Over the years, this rich natural environment has been protected and is now a well-known habitat for wild birds.
The distinct beauty of the four seasons is also one of the charms of Bijin no Mori. In years with heavy snowfall, one can see tender buds sprouting amidst the remaining snow in spring, truly feeling the arrival of the season. In summer, surrounded by vibrant greenery, visitors can enjoy the refreshing breeze blowing through the forest. It is said that the temperature in the forest is about 2°C cooler than the surrounding areas, making it feel even more refreshing. In autumn, the leaves on the branches turn shades of yellow and orange, creating a picturesque and beautiful space. On clear winter days, sunlight sparkles on the snow-covered ground, presenting a dreamlike beauty.
