🗺️ Chūgen Park忠元公園

Chūgen Park is the only location in Kagoshima Prefecture selected as one of the "One Hundred Famous Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." Situated on a hill that overlooks the city, the park features around 800 cherry trees blooming from late March to early April. Every year during the cherry blossom season, the "Chūgen Park Cherry Blossom Festival Week" is held, along with many food stalls. The 2-kilometer cherry blossom path is adorned with lanterns that are lit at night, creating an elegant atmosphere different from that of the daytime. Within the park, the "Chūgen Shrine" enshrines the famous warlord of the Sengoku period, Shimazu's Shin'na Musashi no Kami Chūgen. The lush grounds include a spacious grassy area and a children's playground with play equipment, as well as an observation deck that offers views of the cityscape, providing a leisurely space for both young children and the elderly to enjoy. The Chūgen Park Song Monument, located on the west side of the Chūgen Shrine, is also one of the highlights.
