In 1965, a cafeteria opened in front of Kōzan-ji Temple on Ikuchijima Island. The second and third generations of father and son have been running it ever since, known for its delicious local cuisine made with octopus and lemons from Setoda. The super popular "Egg Sauce Octopus Tempura Donburi" (1,650 yen) features freshly fried, crispy octopus tempura enveloped in a rich, semi-cooked egg, a unique specialty dish. The octopus, which feeds on a variety of marine life in pure seawater and is firm due to the ocean currents, boasts a rich elasticity that becomes more delicious the more you chew. Other recommended dishes include the "Octopus Rice" (1,250 yen), which has been well-received since the restaurant opened, "Octopus Sashimi" (1,200 yen) featuring various parts of the octopus, and the "Octopus Grand Meal" (3,600 yen), which allows you to sample a variety of octopus dishes. On the other hand, Setoda lemons, which rank first in production in Japan, offer refreshing options like "Freshly Squeezed Lemon Shandy" (500 yen) and "Whole Lemon Soda" (650 yen), which are a must-try. As for meals, the restaurant's original "Setoda Lemon Hot Pot" (starting at 5,100 yen for two people, reservation required) is a must-order dish. Sliced lemons cover the entire surface of the pot, and seafood from the Seto Inland Sea is used for the broth, making the pork and vegetables taste even more refreshing. Dishes other than octopus and lemon are also quite delicious, and local residents often come to dine here.
