🗺️ Daoshi Station Olive Park, Shodoshima道の駅 小豆島オリーブ公園

With a landscape reminiscent of the Mediterranean and well-equipped facilities, this popular park is located on a hill that overlooks the Seto Inland Sea. It features white windmills, an English garden blooming with around 120 types of herbs and roses, and multiple photo spots that make you want to press the shutter. Shodoshima is the filming location for the movie "Kiki's Delivery Service" (魔女宅急便). The buildings used as the movie set have been preserved and are now shops selling handmade accessories and goods. Many visitors borrow free brooms to transform into witches from the film, capturing photos that make it seem like they are about to fly into the sky. The restaurant "Sun Olive" offers rice bowls made with locally produced meats, as well as ramen and soba made with olive oil and fruits, providing meals that use local ingredients. There are also natural hot springs where you can enjoy herbal baths, along with cabin accommodations. Known as the "origin of Japanese olives," Shodoshima still has about 2,000 olive trees planted today. You can also visit the "Olive Memorial Museum" to learn more about the history of olives.
