About Daoshiyi Hida Shirakami
Foot baths and enjoying local cuisine, a rest stop for travelers to relax for a moment.
Details
Located at the foot of the sacred peak "Hakusan," one of Japan's three famous mountains. It serves not only as a base for climbing Hakusan from Gifu Prefecture but also as a rest stop for tourists visiting the World Heritage site "Shirakawa-go."
Next door is the onsen facility "Shirakawa no Yu," known for its flowing hot spring water, which allows for same-day round-trip bathing. The rest area features a foot bath that visitors can enjoy freely, open 24 hours a day. The light meal area offers a variety of local delicacies, including the Gifu regional dish "Suttate-yu (すったて汁)," made from ground boiled soybeans seasoned with miso and soy sauce, and "Hida Beef Croquettes." There are also instant noodles like "Yamaba Soba" and various desserts such as "Mitara Dango."
During the summer and autumn, local residents sell fresh vegetables. The most popular souvenir at the Hida Hakusan Roadside Station is a curry cooking pack made from the "Yasumi Pork," a breed from Shirakawa-go. Additionally, the roadside station is equipped with a fast charging station for electric vehicles (EV).
