About Dogo Onsen Station

The gateway to "Dogo Onsen," considered the oldest hot spring in Japan.

Details

The Dogo Onsen Station of the Iyo Railway City Tram is the closest station to the famous "Dogo Onsen," known as Japan's oldest hot spring. The "Botchan Train," which runs between Matsuyama Station and Dogo Onsen Station, has its final stop here, where you can witness the rare sight of the train turning around behind the station. You can see the old station building, constructed in 1911 (Meiji 44), restored to its current form, alongside the steam locomotive "Botchan Train" that ran through the city during the Meiji to Showa periods, allowing you to experience the rich retro atmosphere of the hot spring town. Nearby, the Hōjōen features the "Botchan Bell Tower," which plays music every hour (every 30 minutes during certain periods), as well as a tourist information center and the Dogo Shopping Street, the main street of Dogo Onsen. Additionally, the station building hosts nighttime lighting events. Don't forget to take a stroll and enjoy the sights when walking around Dogo Onsen at night.
