🗺️ Eboshiyama Park烏帽子山公園

Ubozuyama Park is situated on a high plateau that offers a panoramic view of the Noni Ikoma Basin. Located behind the "Akayu Onsen," one of the top hot spring areas in Yamagata with over 920 years of history, the park attracts numerous visitors throughout the year. Ubozuyama Park has been selected as one of Japan's "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots" and is a renowned cherry blossom viewing destination. The park features Somei Yoshino cherry trees that are over 120 years old, as well as one of the few habitats in the world for Edo Hirakizakura cherry trees. Every spring, around 1,000 cherry trees of 25 different varieties bloom, painting the entire Ubozuyama Park in vibrant colors. The breathtaking sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom has earned it the nickname "Ubozuyama Senbonzakura" (Thousand Cherry Blossoms of Ubozuyama). Additionally, during the cherry blossom season, from mid-April to early May, the "Akayu Onsen Cherry Blossom Festival" and nighttime cherry blossom illuminations are held. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms that change with the time of day, and it is recommended to stay overnight at Akayu Onsen to leisurely enjoy the cherry blossom viewing experience. In addition to the thousand cherry blossoms, the park also features a balanced planting of seasonal plants such as pine and maple, allowing visitors to appreciate the seasonal scenery of cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, and autumn leaves in fall.

Selected as one of Japan's "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots," it is one of the premier cherry blossom viewing locations in Yamagata. It is located behind the "Akayu Onsen," which is surrounded by numerous inns and restaurants. The "Akayu Onsen Cherry Blossom Festival" is held from mid-April to early May.
