Walking up the No. 1 trail of Takao Mountain, after passing the cable car "Takao-san Station," you will see "Jūichichō Chaya" next to the Kasumidai Observation Deck. This old shop, which opened in 1899, serves soba noodles, miso oden, and freshly grilled dango. The biggest highlight of the shop is the seating area on the terrace. On clear days, you can enjoy a distant view of Enoshima and Yokohama from the table and tatami seating behind the terrace seats. Enjoying the slightly thick soba noodles paired with the famous yam puree from Takao Mountain in this charming scenery is a delight. Additionally, the "miso oden" drizzled with plenty of sweet miso sauce and the shaved ice in summer are also very popular. Taking a break at Jūichichō Chaya, which has a souvenir shop attached, adds a different kind of fun to your hike up Takao Mountain.
