About Fairy Maiden Waterfall
Relax your body and mind in the abundant negative ions of Xian'e Waterfall!
Details
Shosenkyo Gorge is a representative scenic spot in Yamanashi Prefecture. Deep behind Shosenkyo, there is a waterfall named "Senga Falls," which is listed among the "One Hundred Famous Waterfalls of Japan." Its name is derived from the Chinese mythological figure Chang'e, the moon goddess, and it conveys the meaning of "a waterfall as beautiful as the moon."
The waterfall, which flows over a fault created by tectonic movements, is approximately 30 meters high. As the water crashes against the rock face, it produces a thunderous roar, and the sight of the splashing water is truly breathtaking.
The best time to view the waterfall is during the autumn foliage season. The surrounding trees are adorned in vibrant red and yellow, creating a stunning contrast with the waterfall. In spring, when new greenery sprouts, and in winter, when everything is covered in white snow, as well as during the nighttime illuminations held from spring to autumn, each visit offers a different beautiful scenery.
It only takes about 5 minutes to walk from the parking lot via a trail, and surrounded by negative ions, you are sure to feel a sense of relaxation for both body and mind.
Around the waterfall, there are numerous restaurants and souvenir shops, making it a perfect place to take a break or shop for gifts while strolling.
