The Fire Museum located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, opened on December 3, 1992, as an educational facility for children. Here, visitors can learn about the history of firefighting in Japan, which ensures the safety of cities and the lives and property of citizens. Its official name is the Tokyo Fire Department Fire and Disaster Prevention Information Center.
Inside, there are models that recreate firefighting scenes and equipment from the Edo period, as well as fire trucks that were once active on the scene, allowing visitors to understand the changes and advancements in firefighting activities. It is a great place for family outings. Outdoors, there is a retired firefighting helicopter that can be toured.
Don't miss the disaster prevention lounge on the 10th floor. Through large glass windows, you can enjoy views of the Shinjuku subcenter and Roppongi Hills, and on clear days, you can even see Mount Fuji.
