🗺️ Fukasawa Senbai Benzaiten深沢銭洗弁財天

At the end of the platform towards the starting station inside the Hakone Tozan Railway's Tounosawa Station, there is a shrine dedicated to Benzaiten, the deity of money washing. It is said that about 100 years ago, during the Taisho era, a businessman who frequently stayed at the Tounosawa Onsen dreamt of a white snake, which led to the construction of a small shrine in 1926 at this site, where the clear waters of the Mizukawa flow. The white snake is revered as a messenger of Benzaiten, known to bring wealth, and it is said to be very effective in enhancing financial luck. If coins are washed with the water known as "Benten Yusui" from the shrine, it is said that the money will multiply several times and improve one's financial fortune, making it a popular belief among people in the economic and business sectors. The shrine is equipped with long ladles and sieves, so when you visit, be sure to try washing your coins and praying for blessings. Although the shrine grounds are small, there are additional structures including a middle shrine, an inner shrine in a cave, as well as stone frog statues and a dragon statue at the handwashing area. Surrounded by beautiful nature, you can hear the chirping of wild birds and the sound of flowing water, making it a place full of natural energy. When the train stops at the platform, you can take a photo capturing both the torii gate and the train, making it a very popular photo spot. Additionally, an annual festival is held every year on May 11, and at the shop "Shinoya (しのや)" in front of Tounosawa Station, you can purchase souvenirs such as daruma dolls and amulets.

At the Hakone Tozan Railway's Tōnosawa Station, there is a statue of Benzaiten dedicated at the platform heading towards the starting station. It is said that washing coins with the "Benten Yusui" (Benzaiten healing water) within the shrine grounds and praying for blessings will lead to good fortune and prosperity. It is a very popular photo spot where you can capture both the train and the torii gate in the same frame.
