About Funabashi Andersen Park (ふなばしアンデルセン公園)
Feel the homeland of Hans Christian Andersen in Japan.
Details
Funabashi Andersen Park is named after Hans Christian Andersen, born in Odense, Denmark, which is Funabashi City's sister city. This lush park, where visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers, attracts approximately 800,000 visitors a year, making it a representative theme park of Chiba Prefecture. Covering a vast area of 38.3 hectares, the park is divided into several sections, offering a diverse range of ways to enjoy the space, which is its biggest charm.
In the "Naughty Kingdom Area," there are various outdoor sports facilities suitable for beginners to advanced levels, a mini railway plaza that even adults can ride, and the Naughty Castle, which features a large slide. Visitors can also ride mini horses and get up close to sheep and rabbits.
The "Fairy Tale Hill Area" includes the Andersen Fairy Tale Theater and a library in the Fairy Tale House, along with windmills and farmhouses, recreating the charming scenery of Denmark, making it an area perfect for those who prefer indoor activities. Nearby, the "Garden Castle Area" has play equipment with nets and micro gardens, which are ideal for young children.
Additionally, there's the "Children's Art Museum Area," an experiential art museum with eight sections that offers various creative experiences. Here, visitors can try their hand at pottery and dyeing, as well as experience the fairy tale world in the Andersen Studio, which features stage scenery inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tales. There’s also the "Nature Experience Area," which offers activities like planting experiences. In summary, the park is filled with things to see and do at every turn. You can find facilities that suit you and enjoy a whole day of fun.
Highlights
The official website has a crowd prediction calendar, so it's a good idea to check the date you plan to visit in advance. There are three entrances to the park. If you take the bus, you will arrive at the West Entrance or the North Entrance. The North Entrance is close to the "タオキ王国区" (Taoki Kingdom area), which is very convenient as it has many attractions. Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays tend to be quite crowded, so it is recommended to arrive early.
