About Fussa Base Side Street
A shopping street derived from the Yokota Air Base, filled with American culture.
Details
Located across from the U.S. Yokota Air Base in Fussa City, Tokyo, there is a shopping street connecting to National Route 16. The street is lined with American-style shops, creating a vibrant and exotic atmosphere. The variety of stores is rich and diverse, including antiques, general goods, second-hand clothing, cafes, ice cream shops, and Japanese souvenir shops, as well as art galleries and live houses, making it a delightful place to stroll and explore.
On one corner of the street, there is a community space called "Fussa American House," which was transformed from an American house built in 1958 (free admission). It has received high praise for recreating the American culture from the time it was built. Additionally, the gallery space features exhibits introducing the history of Fussa.
The shopping street also has several shops offering the local delicacy "Fussa Hot Dog." Fussa Hot Dogs are made with sausages from the Fussa Ham Factory, served in special hot dog buns with unique sauces, with each shop offering different flavors.
There are also periodic events such as flea markets, international markets, and the "Friendship Festival" on the base, allowing visitors to experience authentic American culture.
