About Ghibli Park

The world of Studio Ghibli's works comes to life before our eyes.

Details

Ghibli Park is located within the "Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park" in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Studio Ghibli's works. The theme park consists of five main areas: "Ghibli's Grand Warehouse," "Hill of Youth," "Dondoko Forest," "Spirit Village," and "Witch's Valley." The "Witch's Valley" area, set to open in 2024, is themed around Ghibli works featuring witches, such as "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Howl's Moving Castle." Visitors can explore the interiors of buildings like "Osono's House," where the protagonist Kiki grows up (some buildings require the "Ghibli Park Grand Walk Premium" ticket mentioned below). You can also purchase bread at the "Guchoki Bakery" featured in "Kiki's Delivery Service." The approximately 20-meter tall Howl's Castle makes a strong impression, and the living room with the Calcifer fireplace and Howl's bedroom are must-see attractions. Additionally, there are amusement facilities like a carousel, as well as restaurants and shops, making the entire area feel like a small town. The "Spirit Village" area perfectly showcases the rural landscapes from "Princess Mononoke." Large statues of the "Forest Spirit" and the "Dadaraba Castle" with a "Kodama" slide lead visitors into the world of the film. In the "Ghibli's Grand Warehouse" area, there are video exhibition rooms, special exhibitions, a café, and shops, creating a space filled with the "Ghibli worldview." Here, you can see the "Sky Garden" where the robot soldiers stand from the movie "Castle in the Sky," as well as Yubaba's office, "The Impostor's Director's Room," from "Spirited Away." In 2024, new exhibits featuring the heron and parrot from "The Boy and the Heron" will also be added, which should not be missed. The "Hill of Youth" area features an elevator tower based on a 19th-century sci-fi worldview. You can see the recreated art treasure shop "Earth House" from "Whisper of the Heart" and the cat office from "The Cat Returns," allowing for a deeper experience of the worlds depicted in the films. Finally, in the "Dondoko Forest" area, centered around the "House of Mei and Satsuki" built during the 2005 Aichi Expo, the surrounding area recreates the charming scenery of the Japanese countryside. There are also wooden play facilities shaped like Totoro, such as "Dondoko-do," fully recreating the world of "My Neighbor Totoro." Ghibli Park tickets come in three types, all requiring advance reservations for specific dates. First, the "Ghibli Park Grand Walk Ticket" is a standard ticket that allows access to all five areas. When purchasing, you must choose a time slot for entry into the "Ghibli's Grand Warehouse." Second is the "Ghibli Park Grand Walk Premium," which, in addition to access to all five areas, allows entry into the interiors of five buildings: "Earth House," "House of Mei and Satsuki," Kiki's childhood home "Osono's House," "Howl's Castle," and "Witch's House." Lastly, the "Ghibli Park Walk Ticket" allows access to four areas outside of "Ghibli's Grand Warehouse" (only the Ghibli Park Walk Ticket specifies a morning or afternoon visit time for the "Witch's Valley" area). For more detailed information, please refer to the official website.
