About Gifu Park
At the foot of Mount Kinkasan, a park rich in history and cultural atmosphere unfolds on land connected to Oda Nobunaga.
Details
Currently, the park is undergoing renovation and is expected to reopen by the end of March 2025. Gifu Park is located at the foot of Mount Kinka and is a popular resting place for both residents and visiting tourists. At the top of Mount Kinka, which is the site of the park, stands Gifu Castle.
It is said that Gifu Park was once the residence of Saito Dosan and Oda Nobunaga, the lords of Gifu Castle during Japan's Warring States period. Here, visitors can see valuable historical assets such as the "Dosan Era Stone Walls" and the "Site of Oda Nobunaga's Residence," which is currently under excavation.
Gifu Park is currently being renovated under the theme of "A Historical Park Where You Can Almost Hear Nobunaga's Heartbeat." Surrounded by a rich natural environment, the expansive park features various facilities and attractions, including a samurai-style service center, the Japanese garden "Nobunaga's Garden," the Gifu City Museum of History, a visitor rest area, the Kato Eizo and Higashi Kazuki Memorial Art Museum, and the Nawa Insect Museum, all scattered throughout the park. Additionally, the trailhead for climbing Mount Kinka and the boarding area for the Kinka Mountain cable car are also located here.
