About Gourmet Noodles Memorial Hall, Ikeda, Osaka
A hands-on food education museum where you can learn about the history and development of the world's first instant noodles and experience making original cup noodles yourself.
Details
Located in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture, the birthplace of instant noodles, the "Cup Noodle Museum" allows visitors to explore the charm of instant noodles through 11 types of exhibits and attractions. In the hands-on experience facility "Chicken Ramen Factory," visitors can start by kneading the dough and personally experience the entire process of noodle making, while appreciating the unique technique of "flash-frying" that dries the noodles.
In the "My Cup Noodles Factory" studio, where you can create your own original cup noodles, you can choose one flavor from four types of broth and select four ingredients from twelve options to put into your custom-designed cup container. This allows you to create a unique cup noodle that is exclusively your own.
Additionally, the museum authentically recreates the research hut used by Nissin Foods' founder, Momofuku Ando, when he developed the world's first instant noodles, "Chicken Ramen." There are exhibitions that introduce the history of instant noodles by era, as well as the "Cup Noodle Theater," which presents the secrets of cup noodles through animation and computer graphics, making it a fun and educational experience.
Moreover, in the "World of Noodles" area, the museum showcases the packaging designs from around the world to illustrate the staggering 120 billion bowls of cup noodles consumed annually across various countries, creating a spectacular scene. The "Noodle Tunnel," featuring around 800 packaging designs of Nissin Foods' historical products, also provides a fascinating look at the development of instant noodles.
