Tanihama Park, located in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, is a beloved recreational spot for local residents. With the assistance of local elementary and middle school students, activities such as tree planting starting from acorns are conducted. The multifunctional plaza, which includes large playground equipment, spans an impressive 1.9 hectares, making it perfect for laying out picnic mats and enjoying a picnic. There is also a barbecue area nearby, which is always full during peak travel seasons. From the hill overlooking the sea, one can enjoy stunning views of the Sea of Japan, especially the breathtaking sunset as it sinks into the ocean in the evening. Additionally, there is the largest dog park in Niigata Prefecture available for free use, attracting many dog lovers who bring their pets to play. Crossing through the park is Kaga Street, named after the ancient Kaga Maeda clan's retinue that passed through during their official duties. Today, it has been transformed into a walking path.
