Details

Introducing the museum of traditional crafts in Fukuoka and Hakata. Through permanent exhibitions, special exhibitions, workshops, and special events, it showcases the various beautiful crafts passed down through generations by Hakata artisans from ancient times to the present. Visitors can learn about the nationally designated traditional crafts "Hakata-ori" (博多織) and "Hakata ningyo" (博多人偶), along with the charm of other renowned Fukuoka and Hakata crafts such as "Hakata tsukubutsu" (博多曲物), "Hakata dokkuri" (博多独楽), "Hakata hasami" (博多鋏), "Hakata karakuri" (博多張子), "Takarazuka glass" (多層玻璃), "Imanishi ningyo" (今宿人形), and "Hakata 3D pressure cloth painting" (博多立體壓布繪). The experience workshops offer activities like coloring "Hakata ningyo" and "Hakata karakuri," as well as making small coin purses using "Hakata-ori," making it a popular destination with rich content. Among them, the "Planning Exhibition Area" changes its content every 1 to 2 weeks, and visitors can purchase rare limited-edition items available only in the museum. The "Sales Area," which features traditional crafts such as "Hakata-ori" and "Hakata ningyo," is also a must-visit highlight.
