About Hakodate Airport
The gateway to the Southern Hokkaido region, showcasing the charm of Hokkaido and Hakodate.
Details
Second only to New Chitose Airport, it is the second largest airport in Hokkaido and a key air transport hub for the southern region. There are domestic flights to Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and three airports within Hokkaido, as well as international flights to Taipei. In March 2022, renovations were carried out to further expand the restaurants and souvenir shops. Additionally, a new type of comprehensive consultation center called "LOCAL INFORMATION GATTURI 道南" was also renovated and opened. The facility has been transformed into a more convenient space that radiates the charm of the southern region.
The airport features five restaurants offering dishes made with Hokkaido ingredients, such as seafood rice bowls and salt-flavored ramen. Collaborative dishes created by famous Hakodate restaurants and tasting sets of Hokkaido beer are also highly recommended.
There are several souvenir shops with a rich variety of products, making it the crown jewel of the southern region. From representative sweets of Hokkaido and the southern area, sake produced by the Hakodate brewery, to airport-exclusive dorayaki, a wide range of items suitable as souvenirs from Hakodate is available.
Additionally, there are facilities such as the "Airport GALLERY," which displays Ainu craft materials, and a "Viewing Deck" where non-traveling visitors can enjoy a view of the airplane runway.
