A science museum that combines education and entertainment, allowing children to understand the universe and scientific knowledge.
Details
The Hamagin Children's Universe Science Museum located in Yokohama is a science museum where visitors can physically experience the joy of the universe and science. The museum is designed as a giant spaceship, spanning from the 5th floor to the basement level 2. In the "Captain's Room," visitors can experience the wonders of the universe, while the "Space Training Room" allows them to feel like astronauts through various exhibits. Each floor hosts different themed exhibitions.
The exhibitions mainly focus on hands-on experiences. There are space simulators that allow visitors to experience piloting a spaceship, as well as activities like "Moon Jumping" and the "Space Movement Kit" which can be enjoyed while seated. Additionally, on Sundays and national holidays, there are "Science Experiment Shows" that feature science demonstrations using common tools, and "Science Workshop Classes" that can be completed with simple steps.
The planetarium on the 1st floor projects ultra-realistic starry sky images onto a dome with a diameter of 23 meters. There are many engaging programs for both adults and children, and the daily starry sky explanations provided by staff are also very popular.
