🍜 Hanaya (Tokyo)

📝 Introduction

An old shop that satisfies both desserts and popular Chinese cuisine at once.

📖 Details

Established in 1945, this beloved old shop has been taken over by the third generation of owners. The menu is rich and varied, featuring desserts like "Anmitsu," Chinese cuisine, rice bowls, and hearty set meals that appeal to both adults and children. Many customers have even been regulars for three generations. The "Cream Anmitsu" is the best-selling dessert. It includes smooth kanten made from Amakusa in Tateyama, Chiba Prefecture, paired with a rich red bean paste made from Tokachi red beans in Hokkaido, and complemented by slightly salty green peas that enhance the sweetness. Drizzled with black sugar syrup made from Okinawa, it creates a perfectly balanced texture. The flavor is rich yet refreshing, and even the last bite is not overwhelming. The signature "Pan-fried Gyoza" features homemade dumpling skins filled with plenty of stuffing and meat juice, making it incredibly satisfying. You can taste the slightly coarse texture of the cabbage, which pairs perfectly with rice or beer. There are also other nostalgic delights, such as the refreshing "Soup Noodles" with fine noodles in a clear broth, traditional "Omelette Rice," and classic "Fried Rice" from popular Chinese cuisine.

⭐ Highlights

The signature dish is a large pan-fried dumpling filled with plenty of vegetables. The most popular dessert is the sweet filling made with homemade ingredients like agar, black honey, and red bean paste. There is a wide variety of items from desserts to main dishes that both adults and children enjoy. In the summer, there are also shaved ice and watermelon juice, making it a great place to take a break while strolling through the valley.
