Located in Nagasaki, Hasami Town is famous for its transparent blue and white ceramics known as Hasami-yaki. The Hasami Ceramic Park is situated in Hasami Town. The outdoor area of the park showcases kilns from around the world, including 12 different types such as the well-known Noborigama from Japan, the Kütahya kiln from Turkey, and the bottle kiln from England. Each kiln is built to actual size, creating a rare sight that compels visitors to take photos as mementos.
The Hasami Town Ceramic Art Museum is located at one corner of the park. The second floor features a museum that not only displays the history of Hasami-yaki and information about the techniques of professional artisans but also showcases modern works, actively promoting the charm of local specialty products. Additionally, workshops are available for visitors to experience painting and hand-throwing, allowing them to create their own original souvenirs. On the first floor, the Hasami-yaki store "Kurawan-kan (くらわん館)" offers products from 35 local kilns and companies.
Every year from April 29 to May 5, the "Hasami Pottery Festival" is held. During this event, visitors can purchase Hasami-yaki at the most economical prices and have a rare opportunity to interact with the exhibiting artisans.
