About Hikarigaoka Park (光が丘公園)
A vast park with a 6-hectare lawn plaza.
Details
Kōdai Park features a large grass lawn area spanning 6 hectares, with the entire lawn situated on a gently sloping hill. The forest surrounding the lawn is affectionately referred to by locals as "休憩の森" (Resting Forest).
The park is home to 1,000 cherry blossom trees, making it possible to enjoy the beautiful sight of blooming cherry blossoms in spring. In summer, many children come to play in the water pool within the park, making it a popular spot for them. There is also a walkway lined with 40 giant ginkgo trees, known as "銀杏並木" (Ginkgo Avenue). These ginkgo trees are all over 100 years old. When autumn arrives and the leaves turn yellow, the Ginkgo Avenue transforms into a stunning golden tunnel.
In addition to baseball fields, tennis courts, and track and field facilities, the park also includes a children's playground equipped with many play structures, as well as a bird sanctuary. Moreover, if booked in advance, visitors can enjoy outdoor barbecues with family and friends.
