🗺️ Hottarakashi Onsenほったらかし温泉

Hottarakashi Onsen is located in Yamanashi Prefecture and offers a natural hot spring that can be visited as a day trip. From the mountaintop at an elevation of 700 meters, you can enjoy breathtaking views of nature. The onsen facilities consist of two bathing areas: "Kochira no Yu" (こちらの湯) and "Achira no Yu" (あちらの湯). "Kochira no Yu" opened in 1999 and features a simple and calm style, making it popular among locals. Inside the bathing area, there are indoor baths and outdoor baths where you can soak while enjoying excellent views of Mount Fuji and the Kofu Basin. Additionally, the baths are divided into warm and hot pools with different temperatures, allowing you to choose your preferred temperature for a relaxing soak. On the other hand, "Achira no Yu" is built into the mountainside and is twice the size of "Kochira no Yu," offering a more expansive view where you can appreciate a 360-degree panorama of Mount Fuji. It also operates into the night, allowing guests to soak in the hot springs while enjoying the beautiful night sky, often referred to as the "starry sky ceiling." Hottarakashi Onsen opens one hour before sunrise, providing an opportunity to soak in the hot springs while witnessing a breathtaking sunrise. The water quality is classified as alkaline simple spring, which has a gentle feel and is less irritating, making it suitable for those with sensitive skin to soak for extended periods. It is a hot spring that caters to all age groups. Additionally, at the shop, you can taste the local specialties "Deep-Fried Onsen Egg" (150 yen) and "Grape Vinegar Juice" (200 yen). Interestingly, Hottarakashi Onsen in Japanese means "the onsen that no one cares about," which is quite amusing.

It offers a view of Mount Fuji and the Kofu Basin, and is known as the "Sky Onsen." You can enjoy soaking in the hot springs while admiring the starry night sky and the breathtaking sunrise. The bathing areas "Kocchi no Yu" and "Acchi no Yu" require separate admission fees.
