Details
Inoshima is located in the center of the Seto Inland Sea. The southern part of Inoshima, where Tengu Mountain rises to an elevation of 207 meters, is home to Inoshima Park. Along the hiking trail of Tengu Mountain, cherry trees, maple trees, and rhododendrons are planted, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful scenery in every season during their walks. The observation platform at the summit offers a fantastic view of the Shikoku Mountains and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The sunset view from the observation deck of Inoshima Park is breathtaking and has been selected as one of the "Eight Views of Inoshima."
Within the park, there is a stone monument called "TURESHIO (つれしお)," which is inscribed with poems by the writer Fumiko Enchi, who is associated with Inoshima. The poetry on the monument comes from her work "Wandering Chronicle." Visitors can enjoy a refined artistic atmosphere while strolling. Additionally, the statue of "Kōbō Daishi" is another highlight not to be missed. The statue stands at 5 meters tall and is quite magnificent.
