About Ishigaki Bridge
Driving over the bridge feels like sailing on the sea, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the magnificent bridge.
Details
To fully enjoy the beautiful ocean and clear skies of Okinawa, many travelers take a one-hour flight from Okinawa Main Island to the Miyako Islands. The most popular island is Miyakojima, followed by Irabujima. Connecting these two islands is the Irabu Bridge.
At 3,540 meters long, the Irabu Bridge is the longest toll-free bridge in Japan. As you drive across the bridge, you are greeted by expansive cobalt blue ocean views on both sides, creating a sensation of sailing on the sea. During sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening, the sky changes with time, and the surface of the ocean reflects various appearances under the sunlight, with the contrast between the two being breathtakingly beautiful. This stunning natural scenery becomes an unforgettable memory of the trip.
You can also walk or ride a bicycle across the bridge, which takes about an hour on foot. Since there are no pedestrian walkways on the Irabu Bridge, please be especially cautious of vehicles while walking.
