Ishiwa Onsen is the largest hot spring resort in Yamanashi Prefecture, featuring over 30 inns and hotels, ranging from budget accommodations to large hotels with swimming pools, allowing visitors to enjoy various hot spring experiences. The "Aozora Onsen," which emerged from the vineyards of Ishiwa in January 1961, is said to be the origin of Ishiwa Onsen, where high-temperature hot water flows into nearby rivers. The spring quality is a weakly saline simple spring, known for its effects on improving neuralgia, bruises, chronic digestive organ diseases, and cold hands and feet.
This top-ranking hot spring town has been selected as one of the "100 Best New Tourist Destinations in Japan." The area is famous for its various fruits, with cherries in spring and peaches in summer, and the fruit-picking experiences of peaches, grapes, and apples from summer to autumn are also part of its charm.
It takes about 90 minutes by train from Tokyo, making transportation quite convenient. Additionally, it is about a 30-minute trip from Ishiwa Onsen to popular tourist attractions in Yamanashi, such as Takeda Shrine and the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art located in Kofu City. It takes about 50 minutes to reach places like Kiyosato Yatsugatake or the Yamanashi Prefectural Flower Center and Nishizawa Valley. Ishiwa Onsen is an excellent base for sightseeing in Yamanashi.
