About Kaga Traditional Crafts Village, Forest of Hot Springs
Set in a forest filled with ancient houses, there is a classroom where you can experience over 50 traditional crafts.
Details
In the lush green park, there are 11 "experience facilities" where you can experience traditional crafts from Ishikawa Prefecture. You can easily try over fifty types of traditional crafts from the Ishikawa region, including Yuzan-style dyeing, Wajima lacquerware, gold leaf application, glass blowing, and hand-formed pottery. There are also tea rooms, restaurants offering local cuisine, and souvenir shops selling local delicacies, sake, specialty products, and traditional crafts, allowing you to leisurely explore for an entire day. In spring, you can enjoy cherry blossoms, and in autumn, the vibrant foliage makes walking through the forest a delightful experience.
During the Wajima lacquerware experience, you can challenge yourself to carve patterns into the lacquer surface and apply gold leaf and gold powder techniques. You can also create your own designed chopsticks, soup bowls, and cords. In the washi paper experience, you can press flowers, leaves, and gold and silver foil onto filtered washi paper, creating seasonal-themed washi. From small items like postcards or coasters to larger items like paper fans or embroidered curtains, you can make a variety of products. In addition to these, experiences like hand-making soba noodles and creating Japanese sweets are also very popular. Once completed, you can enjoy them on-site or take them home as gifts.
