Lake Kawaguchi is situated at an elevation of 830 meters, and along its shores, there is a 1.5-kilometer stretch of maple trees known as the "Maple Leaf Corridor," which is a popular spot for viewing autumn leaves. The branches and leaves of the maple trees on both sides intertwine, creating a beautiful scene with fallen leaves forming an orange-red carpet on the ground, resembling a tunnel of maple leaves. The beauty of the autumn foliage here is truly enchanting. The Maple Leaf Corridor features approximately 60 maple trees, which were reportedly planted by local residents to prevent flooding from the nearby Pear River. Today, these trees have grown into towering giants. Every autumn, the vibrant red and yellow maple trees contrast strikingly with the majestic Mount Fuji and the soaring blue sky, creating a stunning landscape that is a representative site for viewing autumn leaves in Yamanashi Prefecture. It is also a great place for a scenic drive or bike ride. In November each year, the Maple Leaf Corridor serves as the main venue for the "Fuji Kawaguchi Lake Autumn Leaves Festival." From sunset until 10:00 PM, there is a night lighting event for the maple leaves. Illuminated by lights, the maple leaves appear dreamlike under the night sky, offering a unique elegance and a romantic view that differs from the daytime scenery. There is a parking lot near the Maple Leaf Corridor. During the Kawaguchi Lake Autumn Leaves Festival, vendors selling souvenirs and various snacks line the roadsides, allowing visitors to enjoy the vibrant maple leaves and the magnificent Mount Fuji while savoring delicious food and spending a leisurely time.
