About Keio Hakusai-en
Located in Hino City, Tokyo, a garden that embodies the beauty of Japan.
Details
At Keio Hachikōen, you can enjoy the beautiful seasonal flowers and trees throughout the year. This garden, which has been beloved by the public since the Edo period, covers an area of 26,000 square meters and features thatched-roof buildings, bamboo fences, and tea houses, making it a spot filled with the beauty of traditional Japan.
The busiest times are during the plum blossom and autumn foliage seasons. From February to March, around 50 varieties of plum blossoms, including rare types like "Omoi no Mama" (如妳所願) and "Tsukikage" (月影), bloom with approximately 500 trees. During this time, the "Ume Matsuri" (梅祭) is held. There are also desserts for sale made from the garden's harvested plums, such as jelly, jam, and roasted sweet potatoes.
In early November to December, the "Kōyō Matsuri" (紅葉祭) takes place. Amidst the beautiful scenery of red and yellow leaves, family-friendly activities and nighttime illuminations are held, creating a magical landscape that enchants visitors differently from the daytime view.
On clear days, you can enjoy a distant view of Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and Mount Fuji from the 140-meter-high observation platform in the garden. Since it is located on a hill, you need to walk up a slightly steep path to reach it, but once you arrive, a captivating view awaits you.
