📜 Content

The Nada area between Osaka and Kobe has historically been famous for sake brewing, with several long-established sake breweries known as the "Nada Gokyo." Many of these breweries operate direct sales stores that feature exhibition facilities and offer tastings, and they frequently hold sake-related events. The most famous of these is the Kikumasamune Sake Brewery Museum, which opened in 1960. Located in the former residence of the founder of Kikumasamune, the brewery was relocated in 1659, and the original site was converted to display brewing tools and other items. However, the building was completely destroyed in the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, but fortunately, many of the collections remained intact. The building was rebuilt and reopened in 1999. The museum showcases brewing tools designated as Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties of Japan, allowing visitors to learn about the history and culture of sake brewing. Inside, there is also a shop and tasting area where, in addition to sake, original products, sake buns, and brewery ice cream are sold.
