About Kinosaki Coast
The magnificent lava coastline created by nature!
Details
Kinosaki Coast is a scenic spot representing Higashi-Izu in Shizuoka Prefecture and is part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Approximately 4,000 years ago, lava from the eruption of Mount Omuro flowed and was eroded by seawater over the years, forming this 9-kilometer-long lava coastline. To enjoy the best views of the coast, it is recommended to stand on the suspension bridge overlooking the sea or take a boat tour to appreciate the cliffs along the shore.
The Kadokawa Suspension Bridge is 48 meters long and 23 meters high, making it one of the must-visit highlights of Kinosaki Coast. As you cross the bridge, it sways unpredictably, giving a thrilling experience with every step.
You can also get a close-up view of the cliffs from the rocky shore. There are two walking trails along the coast: the "Kinosaki Outdoor Route" and the "Kinosaki Nature Research Route," which together span 9 kilometers. While walking, you may occasionally encounter wild squirrels. The area around Kinosaki Coast is also a popular spot for scuba diving experiences.
