🗺️ Kirishima Jingu Station霧島神宮駅

The nearest station to the important national cultural property "Kirishima Shrine." The station building will be renovated on March 22, 2024, and is constructed almost entirely from cedar wood from Kagoshima Prefecture. The design of the station building is inspired by the nearby mountains and forests of Kirishima, featuring a 4-meter tall "sacred tree" from the Kagoshima University Faculty of Agriculture's experimental forest, which symbolizes the station. The aroma and warmth of the wood create a relaxing atmosphere. Inside the station, a new dining and merchandise area themed around "Food and Work" from within and outside Kagoshima Prefecture has been established. In "Gallery Jiji," artisan handmade works are displayed and sold. A new crepe specialty shop called "Quili," which uses 100% Kirishima organic buckwheat flour, has also opened, offering crepes made with strawberries and matcha sourced directly from local farms, as well as various seasonal flavors. Opening in April 2024, "Megui" is a creative Italian restaurant focused on local ingredients, located just a 3-minute walk from the station building. It operates on a reservation-only basis, allowing guests to enjoy a unique space and meals. Nearby, there is an art gallery called "Tenchi Jin," transformed from a century-old stone warehouse, and a lounge called "Radiance" that is open all day. Starting in April 2024, three flavors of shaved ice made with a large amount of local ingredients will be available. The personal sauna "Shan Shan," which accommodates only three groups of travelers per day, is also nearby, offering an authentic Finnish sauna experience in nature, where you can listen to the sound of trains passing by in the sauna room, providing a unique healing experience. Next to the station exit, there is a foot bath fed by a municipal hot spring, perfect for relaxing your feet while waiting for the train.

In March 2024, the station will be completely renovated, built 100% with cedar wood from Kagoshima Prefecture. There will be a new "Gallery Jiji" and a specialty crepe shop called "Quili." Nearby, there is also a foot bath where you can relax and soak your feet while waiting for the train.
