This botanical garden located on the high hills of Kokurakita in Kitakyushu has a history of nearly 80 years, featuring a natural landscape interwoven with plants throughout the four seasons, making it a popular recreational spot for citizens. From the cherry blossoms, peonies, and hydrangeas in spring to the wild grasses and autumn leaves in fall, visitors can enjoy a rich array of natural beauty, all infused with Japanese charm. The garden boasts over 700 cherry trees of 60 different varieties, making it one of the locations with the most cherry blossoms in the Kyushu region.
From the mountaintop plaza at an altitude of about 111 meters, one can overlook the "Suō-Nada" sea. On clear days, the "Kunisaki Peninsula" and "Ube area" can be seen, and as far as "Kitakyushu Airport."
The Japanese-style building standing at the entrance plaza was constructed in the 1930s and served as the residence of a timber industry entrepreneur. The architecture features the popular "Wayo" style of the time, with intricate and beautiful designs visible throughout. It is now open for free as a lounge, event or lecture venue, or gallery, and it is recommended to visit while you're there.

Getting There
Take the Nishitetsu bus from JR Kagoshima Main Line "Mojiko" Station for about 20 minutes, and get off at "Shiranokai 2-chome," then walk for about 2 minutes.
