About Kobe Animal Kingdom

Recommended for couples and family outings! You can observe animals living freely up close, as well as visit a botanical garden.

Details

Kobe Animal Kingdom is an all-weather botanical and zoological garden focused on interactive experiences. Within the park, which realistically recreates natural landscapes, visitors can get up close and personal with animals that live in near-free-range conditions. There are experiences such as feeding animals and riding camels, as well as performances that provide insights into the animals' ecology. In the indoor "Indoor Garden," multiple areas are designed to create suitable living environments for the animals. Visitors can observe animals residing in various habitats up close, living freely without barriers or cages. Among the most popular attractions are the "Tropical Forest," where visitors can feed capybaras and toucans, and the "Bigbill" area of the whale-headed stork ecological garden, known as the first breeding area in Asia for the "whale-headed stork," famous for its immobile birds. In the outdoor "Outdoor Plaza," kangaroos, seals, and penguins are housed. There are riding experiences available with camels, horses, and mini-horses, as well as opportunities to feed alpacas and sheep. The "Wind Sports Field" hosts working dog performances and free-flying bird shows. Additionally, the newly opened "Mizunose Protection Area - Small-clawed Otter Ecological Garden" in July 2022 features small-clawed otters living in a vast environment with ponds, waterfalls, and surrounding forests, making it the largest otter display space in Japan.
