Kobe Motomachi Shopping Street is an arcade-style shopping street, approximately 1.2 kilometers long, featuring around 300 shops. In the blocks of Motomachi 1-chome, 3-chome, 4-chome, 5-chome, and 6-chome, old and new shops coexist, offering a variety of stores from fashion boutiques and grocery shops to dining establishments, attracting a continuous stream of shoppers. The atmosphere of Kobe Motomachi Shopping Street is different from other bustling shopping streets. Walking along the vibrant street, one can feel a quiet and elegant ambiance. Significant effort has been made to shape the landscape with a "Motomachi character." For instance, there are civic agreements based on the landscape of the shopping street that set regulations for the buildings and signage of each shop. At the eastern entrance of the shopping street, the stained glass door "LA LUCE" is a work by the renowned Japanese glass artist Keiko Miura. The Art Nouveau-style streetlights, known as "Suzuran Flower Lights," are particularly eye-catching. Designed in the shape of lily of the valley flowers, these streetlights create a beautiful and varied illumination in different arrangements, leaving a strong impression on visitors to this charming shopping street. Throughout the year, various events are held on the shopping street. The most popular are the "Motomachi Night Market" in July and the "Kobe Motomachi Music Week" in October. During these events, numerous vendors gather, making the entire area exceptionally lively.
