🗺️ Kumamoto Bear Port Yatsushiro

📝 Introduction

There are 84 Kumamon waiting for you, and parks filled with Kumamon everywhere.

📖 Details

Yatsushiro Port, a logistics hub in southern Kyushu, was transformed in March 2019 into a port capable of accommodating the world's largest international cruise ships. The area surrounding the passenger transfer station has been developed into a leisure park themed around Kumamon, called "Kumamon Park." There are 84 Kumamon statues of various sizes welcoming visiting travelers. Within an area of over 20,000 square meters, there is a 6-meter-long "Great Kumamon," the largest in Japan, as well as a "Kumamon Choir" featuring 54 Kumamon figures displaying various expressions arranged in a fan shape, and the "Twelve Zodiac Kumamon" dressed in traditional attire. Hidden within a graceful Japanese garden are Kumamon figures relaxing in hot springs, among many other photo spots showcasing different appearances of Kumamon. From the ship, one can see a wide grassy plaza painted with a ground mural of Kumamon. There is also a souvenir shop selling Kumamon merchandise and Yatsushiro specialty products, making the entire park feel like a Kumamon-themed amusement park that brings joy to visitors. ©2010 Kumamoto Prefecture くまモン (Kumamon)
