About Kuniryū Shrine
The giant vine known as "Thousand-Year Wisteria" is a must-see!
Details
About a 5-minute walk from Keio Line "Fuda" Station, there is a shrine that prays for disaster relief, good relationships, and safe childbirth. The year of its construction is unknown, but it is said to have been relocated to its current site in 1640 and was renamed Kokuryo Shrine in 1963.
The shrine's biggest highlight is the enormous wisteria tree in its grounds. It is believed to be around 400 to 500 years old, and the best time to view it is from mid-April to early May, when the scene filled with light purple flowers is breathtaking! This wisteria tree is known as "Sennen no Fuji" (千年乃藤), and during the flowering season, the "Kokuryo Sennen no Fuji Matsuri" is held, featuring food stalls, nighttime illuminations, and various activities. The beautiful wisteria flowers cover the entire area like a ceiling, making it well worth a visit.

Known as the "Millennium Wisteria," this giant vine is approximately 400 to 500 years old. During the blooming season of the wisteria, the "Kunitori Millennium Wisteria Festival" is held. Additionally, there are seasonal festivals and beer festivals, making for a lively atmosphere.
