About Kunmachi Prefectural Nature Park
The beauty of the four seasons is captivating, and it is also a place of energy that blesses good relationships.
Details
Located in the northern part of Akita Prefecture, in the city of Noshiro, is the Prefectural Natural Park. With its beautiful scenery that varies across the four seasons—cherry blossoms in spring, azaleas in early summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy landscapes in winter—it is one of the top scenic spots in Akita Prefecture. It is said that the name comes from an event during Emperor Meiji's visit to the Tohoku region, where he received a letter from the Empress and was moved by the beauty of the local scenery, thus naming the area "KIMIMACHI坂 (君待坂)."
The expansive park also features many energy spots that are believed to foster good relationships. There is the "Love Letter Post Office," where you can send mail stamped with a cute heart-shaped postmark, "Couple Rock," where both men and women can make wishes, and the "Love Letter Shrine," which is said to bless good relationships and happy marriages. Additionally, the "KIMIMACHI Bell," popular among couples, is said to ensure that those who ring it together will have a lasting relationship.
KIMIMACHI坂 Prefectural Natural Park is also well-known for its stunning autumn foliage. The view from the First Square, where the屏風岩 (Byobuiwa) and autumn leaves frame each other, is truly exceptional. The white rock surface of the tuff is adorned with vibrant red and yellow leaves, creating a picturesque scene reminiscent of a painting. The entire area covered in a bright carpet of autumn leaves is equally beautiful and enchanting.
