This lake is located at the western foot of Mount Fuji, with a circumference of 12.6 kilometers, an area of 4.7 square kilometers, and a depth of 122 meters. It is the least disturbed and most naturally preserved lake among the Fuji Five Lakes. The water quality is excellent, earning it the title of "the highest transparency in Honshu."
The northern shore of Lake Motosu is the best viewing spot for Mount Fuji, famously depicted on the back of the 1,000 yen bill, showcasing the stunning "reflection of Fuji" floating on the calm lake surface. Additionally, you can reach Takinodake along the lakeside. It is well-known to enjoy the first sunrise of the year, known as "Diamond Fuji," from the summit of Mount Fuji on New Year's Day.
Lake Motosu also offers a variety of water activities such as sea kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, and windsurfing, making it a great spot to enjoy various water activities in beautiful nature.
Moreover, by taking the submarine-style sightseeing boat "Moguran," you can enjoy a 360-degree view of Mount Fuji from the deck and observe beautiful fish such as carp, cherry salmon, and rainbow trout through the bottom windows of the boat.
