About Lake Toya Ferry
A sightseeing boat to enjoy the mountains, forests, and fireworks from Lake Tōya.
Details
The sightseeing boat sailing on Lake Toya, formed by a volcanic eruption 110,000 years ago. Departing from the pier in front of the Toya Onsen station, the boat ride takes about 50 minutes. From the boat, you can enjoy views of famous landmarks such as Mount Yotei, Showa Shinzan, and Mount Usu, as well as the scenic islands collectively known as Nakajima, Benten Island, Kannon Island, and Manju Island.
From April to October, you can disembark at Nakajima. On the island, you can visit museums and shrines, relax in lakeside and forest cafes, or take leisurely walks in nature. There are also hiking trails ranging from 45 minutes to 3 hours, so those interested might want to set aside more time to explore.
Additionally, during the annual Toya Lake Long-Distance Running Fireworks Festival held from April to October, special fireworks viewing boats are offered. The fireworks are launched approximately 2 kilometers across Lake Toya, and the sightseeing boats will move along the launch site, allowing passengers to enjoy the fireworks from the front during the cruise.
The sightseeing boats include two types: the "Kibou" (Hope) and the "Yotei." Among them, the "Kibou," designed to resemble a medieval castle, is particularly recommended.
