Using buckwheat sourced directly from various regions, we make aromatic handmade soba noodles.

📖 Details

Arashiyama Yoshimura (嵐山よしむら) is a restaurant where you can enjoy handmade soba noodles and meticulously crafted soba dishes, along with seasonal delicacies. They insist on using domestically produced buckwheat, which is entirely hand-made by skilled chefs. Freshly harvested buckwheat is purchased directly from the source, hulled to the required amount, and then ground into flour using a stone mill. The restaurant's popular dish, "Tempura Bamboo Sieve Soba Set" (天婦羅竹篩蕎麥麵膳), comes with assorted tempura, soba noodles, herring flake rice, and buckwheat koji pickles. Additionally, there is a "Buckwheat Tea Roll Cake" (蕎麥茶蛋糕捲) and other new-textured desserts made with domestically produced buckwheat. The restaurant is located in the former residence of the Meiji period Japanese painter, Kawamura Banshu (川村曼舟, 1880-1942), exuding a strong Japanese atmosphere. In this old residence where many literary figures, including Kitō Kōji and Yokoyama Taikan, gathered, you can enjoy the quietly passing moments. From the glass-enclosed interior, you can gaze at the famous Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama, savoring your meal while appreciating the beautiful scenery of Kyoto.
