🗺️ Mifuneyama Rakuen御船山楽園

Mifuneyama Rakuen is a garden created by the 28th lord of the Takeo domain, Nabeshima Shigeaki, using the cliffs of Mifuneyama, which symbolize Takeo, as its backdrop. It took three years to complete, finishing in the second year of Kōka (1845). This is a pond-style strolling garden with a large pond, covering an area equivalent to about 10 Tokyo Domes, boasting an impressive 150,000 tsubo of land. The garden is home to hundreds of thousands of plants and is a popular destination for flower viewing throughout the four seasons, always attracting large crowds. In late March, over 2,000 cherry trees bloom, including Somei Yoshino, Oshima cherry, and Yaezakura, and the garden hosts Kyushu's largest nighttime cherry blossom illumination event, allowing visitors to enjoy a dreamlike scenery at night. In April, around 200,000 azaleas of varieties such as Kurume and Hirado adorn the mountains with vibrant colors. There is also a wisteria tree estimated to be about 170 years old, which produces flowers in white and purple. The flower clusters can reach up to 150 centimeters in length, and when fully in bloom, they release a slightly sweet fragrance throughout the area. In recent years, a collaboration with the digital art group "teamLab" has also become a topic of interest. By integrating the garden's nature, history, and the latest digital art projection technology, it offers visitors a completely new emotional experience.

The beauty of the garden and its historical significance have been highly recognized, making it a registered national monument.
