About Miyako Island Snow Salt Museum
A museum and shop attached to the salt production facility.
Details
The facility is a museum and shop attached to the salt production site that creates the special product "Yukishio" using seawater from Miyako Island. The Yukishio, made through a unique method, retains the brine containing 14 types of seawater components. Its fine, fluffy texture resembles snow and is known for its beauty benefits, making it a highly popular specialty product.
This is a learning facility established to introduce the manufacturing methods, uses, and tasting techniques of Yukishio. There is no admission fee, and anyone can easily enter and visit. In addition to selling Yukishio, the shop within the museum also offers related products such as "Yukishio Baumkuchen" and "Yukishio Mineral Hot Spring Powder," as well as some factory-exclusive items that can only be purchased here.
Additionally, the facility features a café where visitors can enjoy ice cream and beverages. Be sure to try the popular item "Yukishio Ice Cream," which has a sweet and salty flavor. There is also a flavored Yukishio called "Yukishio Kakeru," sprinkled with hibiscus or island red chili, allowing for a different taste experience.
