Composed of three areas: "Craft Workshop," "Nanbu Kyoka," and "Morioka Regional Local Industry Promotion Center," this complex facility offers opportunities to learn about and experience the making of Morioka's traditional crafts.
In the "Craft Workshop," there are 14 studios showcasing local representative traditional crafts and local delicacies, including Nanbu ironware, Morioka cold noodles, and Nanbu senbei. Visitors can not only witness the creations of experienced artisans but also participate in various hands-on workshops. Indigo dyeing, pottery, and weaving are among the diverse craft experiences that are quite popular with travelers.
"Nanbu Kyoka" is a reconstructed building from the late Edo period. The main house and stable are connected, showcasing a unique architectural style that reflects the region's historical prosperity in horse breeding.
The "Morioka Regional Local Industry Promotion Center" features a sales area displaying about 4,000 specialty products from Morioka and Iwate. In the attached cafΓ©, visitors can enjoy the original dessert "Nanbu Gelato?" (γͺγγγγοΌ), which consists of Italian ice cream sandwiched between Nanbu senbei. There is also an exhibition room providing various materials introducing Morioka's tourism, traditional crafts, and local industries.
