Mount Yotei is located in the southern part of the Shiribeshi region in Hokkaido, with an elevation of 1,898 meters. Its beautiful conical shape closely resembles that of Mount Fuji, which is why it has been popularly known as "Ezo Fuji" since ancient times. Geographically, it is situated on the western side of Shikotsu-Toya National Park and is listed as one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Japan." Its perfectly conical appearance has become a landmark of the Niseko area.
In terms of visual appeal, the mountain features distinctly different landscapes depending on the season and time of day, with the evening sunset being particularly stunning. The area surrounding Mount Yotei is rich in vast natural beauty, and the famous water spots formed by melting snow attract numerous tourists.
Summer is also a popular time for hiking, with four different trails to choose from. The Makkari Trail and the Kutchan Trail are suitable for beginner hikers, providing an easy introduction for those unfamiliar with climbing. The Kyogoku Trail and the Kimobetsu Trail are more suited for experienced climbers, offering a challenge based on one's physical fitness.
