About Nagoya City Science Museum
An immersive science museum with a powerful impact, featuring the largest planetarium in the world.
Details
Located in the center of Nagoya, it consists of three buildings: the Life Museum, the Science and Technology Museum, and the Planetarium. Inside, there are many large exhibitions that allow visitors to explore the mysteries of science through visual, auditory, and tactile experiences. For example, there is the "Extreme Cold Laboratory," where you can view aurora images in a room at minus 30 degrees Celsius; the "Tornado Simulation Laboratory," where you can witness a 9-meter-high tornado phenomenon; and the "Discharge Laboratory," where you can observe a discharge of 1.2 million volts, showcasing the wonders of nature.
The most striking feature is the giant spherical "Planetarium NTP Planet." With an inner diameter of 35 meters, it has been certified by the Guinness World Records as the largest planetarium in the world. Through the large spherical screen, visitors can watch a near-realistic representation of the sky using the latest digital projection technology. The dynamic beauty of the sky changes from morning to day, from sunset to night, is truly breathtaking. Each month, the image themes are updated to align with current astronomical phenomena and cosmic topics, with dedicated guides providing explanations in Japanese on-site.
